Elementary School Art Teacher

Academic Positions

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


The Art Teacher reports directly to the Lead Teacher. They are required to have strong pedagogical knowledge, a thorough understanding of their curriculum content and a concern for pastoral care. Classroom teachers will also demonstrate the ability to improve student learning outcomes and the aptitude to identify and cater to the individual learning needs of each student. They will plan, organize and implement the American curriculum in a manner that guides and encourages students to achieve their potential as a student and young person.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Responsible for the instruction of Art classes in elementary school
  • Ensure implementation of Inspire World American School’s mission, visionand core values
  • Unwavering belief that all students can learn and achieve success in school
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to foster positive working relationships between students and adults alike
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Working knowledge in using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel,
  • PowerPoint (or pages, numbers, and keynote if using Apple/MAC products)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skill
  • Attend and participate in IWAS’s staff meetings as required
  • Attend and participate in IWAS’s training programs as required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Teachers are expected to perform at a high level in all areas of IWAS’s core values, mission and instructional strategies as laid out in the School Handbook
  • Develop unit plans and assessments that are in accordance with established standards linked to the CCSS.
  • Instruct and monitor student’s performance with the use of learning materials and technology
  • Teachers are expected to implement a wide variety of teaching methods designed to create opportunities for deep understanding and differentiatedinstruction for all levels of ability within a class
  • Create curriculum linked clear, learning objectives for all classes
  • Create a variety of learning materials and resources for use in the classroom
  • Teachers will create a strongly engaging scheme of work and plans related to curriculum objectives designed to move students towards meeting proficient performance standards that are in line with Common Core principles and expected outcomes
  • Teachers are expected to actively participate in all professional developmen sessions and implement new strategies in their subsequent teaching and learning
  • Teachers are expected to use the school’s LMS to maintain accurate and upto-date records of attendance, coursework, and to submit student report cards and school-wide assessment records on time
  • Be present during the required school hours (8:00am – 4:30pm), dressed professionally and always adhere to the professional code of conduct
  • Teachers are expected to attend and participate in parent / teacher meetings, parent conferences (when needed), department and schoo meetings and student tutoring as communicated by the administration and track all efforts to create consistent and effective communication wit parents

Assistant Teachers

Academic Positions

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Assistant Classroom Teacher reports directly to the lead teacher. The primary
role of the assistant classroom teacher is to facilitate student learning, effective
communication with students and parents, assist the class teacher and provide
support to general classroom duties. They will be able to implement and uphold
school rules and core values while being an exceptional role model for students.
Assistant classroom teachers will be committed to their own professional
development and actively seek out opportunities to expand their role specific
knowledge.


TEACHER REQUIREMENTS:


• Works under pressure and manage time effectively
• Works collaboratively and professionally with staff, students and parents
• Works on a range of IT equipment
• Are flexible and can multitask successfully in the workplace

RESPONSIBILITIES


Support for Teachers:

  • To provide structured support in accordance with specific programs designed and supervised by class teachers.
  • To assist in maintaining classroom discipline through the implementation of the school’s behavior management policies
  • Provide in lesson support to students as directed by the classroom teacher
  • To assist the class teacher with the planning of learning activities
  • To assist the class teacher in monitoring students’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement / progress as directed.
  • To provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on students’ achievement, progress and behavior
  • Work cooperatively with teachers, administrators, and staff
  • Performs routine daily and weekly procedures needed to operate the LMS platform which include:
  • Assist with entering grades and attendance
  • Generating reports
  • Communication with parents
  • Assist the class teacher in preparation of classroom resources and displays
  • Effectively use technology to support student learning outcomes

Support for Students:

  • Establish positive working relationships with students, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom
  • Support students consistently while identifying and responding to their individual needs
  • Encourage students to interact and work cooperatively with others and engage all students in activities
  • Promote independence and implement strategies to recognize and reward the achievement of independent thinking
  • Provide feedback to students in relation to progress and achievement

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DOCTOR

School Support Positions

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The School Doctor is responsible for managing all aspects of the school’s health services and clinic operations. The School Doctor is responsible for the physical/medical examination of students, the first aid and emergency care, the prevention and control of communicable diseases, and the maintenance of all medical records and reports.

  • Provide effective leadership over school clinic operations and services
  • Ensure implementation of all mandated policies and protocols in collaboration with the school’s administrative authorities and school personnel.
  • Conduct routine medical examinations of newly registered and existing students at any grade and document the findings in the school health record.
  • Promptly attend to students with injuries or other conditions requiring immediate attention.
  • Assess, plan, and implement health care plans for children with chronic illnesses and children with special needs including allergies.
  • Ensure accuracy and security of student records, files, and database.
  • Participate in planning and conducting health education activities in the school.

  • Notify parents/guardians of any suspected deviation from normal or usual health found as a result of a screening test, health examination, and/or school staff observation.
